When do we love God?
Read Mark 12:28-38
A few things happen in this passage. Jesus summarizes the law, tells the teacher of the law that he is close to the kingdom, and then continues teaching, clarifying that Jesus (the Messiah) came from the line of David. However, more importantly, He teaches that the messiah is God’s son. Jesus more clearly describes his authority to all listening people compared to earlier in Mark, in which it is sometimes masked. We all have lots of moments that seem to be separate moments. We set time aside for family, work, church, etc. Jesus is teaching that our lives boil down to loving God and that loving God leads to loving neighbor. The whole of the law that the Jewish people followed (or attempted to follow) is to the end of loving God and loving others. Today’s devotion is focused on evaluating what moments God is present in your life today and how you can allow him to be present and loved in all moments of your life.
Pause and Pray
Spend time noting all that you are doing in your life daily. Then, note how you see God present and how your love of Him is shown in your day. Then note where God isn’t present and close in prayer, asking for God to lead you to a life filled with love of Him in all that you do.
Lord, Lead us to surrender our moments and life to you. Amen
Walking in the Kingdom
What will you do this week to incorporate God into all moments of your life?
