Trusting God with the Impossible
Read Mark 10:23-27
In high school, I was on the swim team. I joined the team during my sophomore year. I didn’t have the privilege of growing up doing club swim. Many on the team had been swimming since they were children. I joined the team because a friend invited me. At each practice, I could read the records others had set for each swimming event. I knew I couldn’t set any of those records, but I put my mind to setting my records. Setting a school record was impossible, but I still pursued the sport, growing, and trusted the coach to help me improve. Jesus tells the disciples it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter the kingdom of God. Unlike my example, what Jesus says is impossible in human terms. A camel can’t go through the eye of the needle. The disciples then wonder if anyone can enter the kingdom. Jesus then tells them what is impossible for man is possible with God. I never set any school records, but I set some personal records I never thought possible because I trusted my coach. Maybe instead of focusing on our failures, we should press into letting Christ and the Holy Spirit lead us to the Father, and perhaps one day, we will fully relinquish those things that are holding us back and find all the riches in our relationship with God.
Pause and Pray
Consider the ways you have ignored God recently. Ask God to help restructure your life so a relationship with Him is a priority.
Lord, many things distract me from you. Please help me let go of those distractions and prioritize our relationship. Amen
Walk in the Kingdom
How will you make connecting to Christ a priority today and tomorrow?
